Practicing Sabbath
Rest is an essential companion to our work. One is not more spiritual or worthy than the other. But humans over the eons have seemed to need reminders and permission — even orders — to remember the rest part! If you need permission to stop and rest, here it is! If you need some ideas and people to practice with, here they are!
Each week find a new blog post (to the right!) with a practice prompt. Plus a way to share our in-real-life ideas and discoveries!
We all will spend a lifetime remembering, practicing and discovering what nourishing, fruitful rest looks like. It will be different for each of us and what works for you today may not feel so nourishing or fruitful tomorrow. Practicing something is what matters!
It can really help…
to hear what others are trying and discovering in real life. So, we are gathering up our community wisdom (yes, yours too!) in short voice messages to be woven together and shared back. Besides a practice idea, each week’s blog post will offer a prompt for sharing a glimpse of your real-life #CeaseAndResist experiences and discoveries.

Many of the practices we will suggest are adapted from this classic book on Sabbath: Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives by Wayne Muller. Check it out!
We’ll list others here. Hear a song, podcast, poem or book that helps you wrestle with the idea of resting? Send in your ideas with a sentence on what you got out of it - and we will add them. Thanks!
